ADHO Newsletter - April 2026

Chair’s Message

We are delighted to share opportunities and updates from around ADHO.

The DH2026 team is thrilled to open registration for the conference, including options for in-person and virtual attendance. Early registration lasts until May 18, so make sure to register during that timeframe, if you can. Also keep in mind that the conference operates in a range of timezones, so it would be wise to register well before May 18 so you don’t miss out. There are discounted registration rates for members of Constituent Organizations (COs) of ADHO. Your CO will have communicated the discount code to its members. If you have questions, please contact your CO.

Thanks to all who expressed interest in putting together a bid to host DH2029 - we received several strong communications and the Constituent Organization Board (COB) looks forward to reviewing completed bids in a couple of months. It is exciting to see the robust DH community in action, in the short term and as we look years into the future.

Are you interested in getting involved in ADHO? Applications to join the Executive Board close on 1 May! We are seeking people for 4 Executive Board positions: Chair-Elect, Deputy Treasurer, Deputy Secretary, and Deputy Conference Officer. These are 3-year positions, beginning in August 2026, with a year of mentorship to ensure an easy onramp into responsibility. If you are curious to learn more, please reach out to secretary@adho.org, and we will connect you with the person currently in the role.

ADHO is pleased to acknowledge scholarship in digital humanities in many ways, including through named awards. The call for nominations for the Roberto Busa Prize will be posted imminently, with a nomination deadline in mid-June. Keep an eye on the ADHO website and social media for further information.

Finally, many thanks to Deputy Communications Officer Dena Shamsizadeh for putting together this newsletter.

Best,

Kristen Mapes
ADHO Executive Board, Chair
